Joe Mannino is an Arizona-based artist/photographer. He received his BFA in Photography from the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. Mannino’s inspiration to make work derives from the fusion of aspects and characteristics related to both the desert southwest, his love for his surroundings, as well as a traditional Italian upbringing.
This inspiration has led him in different directions so far in his career. Joe’s work in the desert stems from the life he’s spent hunting, fishing and hiking throughout Arizona. He looks at the subtle interactions of desert animals, plant life and water presence in an arid environment.
His heritage has led him to photograph the interactions of his family. Through tradition and religion, Joe shows how these aspects of life transcend different cultures unifying us all.
His work provides a unique look at life as a man, a predator, and the deeply rooted family traditions from which he was raised. He has exhibited through ASU and throughout Arizona as well as KSpace Contemporary in Texas and The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado.
